Emme the Hiking SuperStar

Emme Levy Crandall has been training all summer to climb  4 fourteeners on September 4, 2008

To make their hike more meaningful they encouraged people to make a pledge for each 14er to AKC Canine Health Foundation ATCF-to study and better be able to understand the health of our dogs or The Aspen Animal Shelter. Over $10,000 was raised to be divided between the two organizations.

Emme and her posse including her human dad, Rick Crandall; Laura Welch and Dianna & Rick Peckham will depart from Aspen Friday, overnight in Breckenridge, and start off for the hike at 5:30am. Emme was been checked out by her regular vet and an orthopedic vet and was traveling with a paramedic.

The mountains they will climb are.... First, Mt. Democrat, 2150’ vertical to 14,148 ft, then on to Mt Cameron at 14,050 and then on to Mt Lincoln at 14,286’ and finally to Mt. Bross  at 14,172’. It's a total of about 8 miles and 5000 vertical feet

runoff from last winter’s snowfall, making a loop back to Kite Lake finish.
